Mariah's port side settee is long enough to make a comfortable bunk underway. A lee cloth stows unobtrusively underneath. Batteries and heart interface (inverter/charger) beneath leave plenty of room for stowage.The galley (starboard side aft end of the main cabin) provides a secure stable cooking area with plenty of storage. Amenities include the modern microwave oven toaster and of course a three burner stove and thermostatically controlled oven. The refrigerator/freezer provide ample space for all your storage needs.
Background/Design:
Mariah was built in 1989 at the Shin Fa yard in Taiwan for Liberty Yachts of Seattle, Washington. Heavy duty layup has produced a trouble free hull, unsurprassed structural integrity and exceptional directional stability. Insulation above the waterline helps to keep the interior dry and comfortable in a wide range of environments.
Notable naval architect Stan Huntingford designed the Liberty 49 to provide the market with a luxurious and comfortable long distance passage maker. The Liberty 49 is possibly the most comfortable long distance live aboard passage maker in this size range.
The uncluttered deck plan has been designed with short-handed sailing in mind; as most cruisers are couples. Turning blocks at the base of the mast lead lines through triple sheet stoppers. This system provides a wide variety of sheeting and rigging options. She is easily handled by two with all primary lines led back to the cockpit. The staysail and genoa sheet winches on the coamings are self tailing.

I learned to sail 1962 San Francisco in Dinghies and small Keel boats, participating in the bay racing and offshore races. I owned and sailed Finn US 104 for a year and a half. I then continued sailing through to 1970 sailing on San Francisco Bay and the gulf of the Farallones in Keel boats. I made off Shore trips from La Paz Mexico to San Francisco, San Francisco to Southern California on Yachts to 80 feet LOA. I then continued sailing in San Diego 1970 to 1975 with occasional Chartering of Cruising sailboats. In 1986 purchased and sailed a 40 foot Beneteau on Puget Sound, The Straits of Juan de Fuca, and in Canadian waters. Aprox 1993 sold The Beneteau and purchased Express 37 racing and cruising in the Seattle area and the Straits of Juan De Fuca. In 1999 I sold the Express 37 and Purchased Mariah a Liberty 49 which I have owned and operated until April 2010.
